About

Bethany Nolan is a Central Otago based fine artist working under her brand Flick & Co. Studio.

Bethany paints with watercolour to create vibrant and dynamic depictions of New Zealand birds that celebrate the beauty and wonder of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

She grew up on a farm in South Westland, a childhood surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Southern Alps, rugged beaches and lush rainforests. Her Mother and Grandmother were talented artists and encouraged her creativity from a young age.

Spending much of her adult life travelling overseas and living amongst diverse cultures, she came home to reconnect with New Zealand and began painting the local wildlife, it has been her obsession ever since.

Beth’s chosen medium, watercolour, is a dance between spontaneity and restraint, a contradictory technique she has spent several years refining and mastering. Layer, upon layer of flamboyant colour and fluid shapes add a jewel-like quality to her work, depicting her subject’s energy and depth’s of movement.
